Changelog

Updated

2.0.0 Lumo 2.0: one number for today

Lumo 2.0 is a rebuild of the whole app. The question it answers first is how much you can spend today.

Today

  • One number at the top: what you can spend today. It rolls into place when it changes.
  • A cycle bar under it with one tick per day, so you can see where you are in your budget cycle.
  • When you have not spent anything yet, quick-add tiles offer your last amounts, and a week view shows tomorrow and the days behind you.
  • New accounts get four short steps to get started.

Adding money

  • A new Add button in the bottom bar opens a keypad. Add an expense, income or money you already have in a few taps.
  • Receipt scans now keep each line of the receipt with the entry. You can remove lines before saving.
  • Lend part of an expense to someone and Lumo creates or updates the loan for you.

Activity

  • Entries grouped by day, with a total for what you are looking at.
  • Search by name, category or note. Older matches show inline.
  • Filters for dates, category, payment method, amount and type.
  • Swipe an entry left to delete it, and tap Undo if you change your mind.

Insights

  • Compare this cycle with the last one, day by day.
  • See where your money went by category.
  • Predict next month from your own spending. In your first cycle, Lumo compares against your plan instead.
  • Smarter predictions: months follow your time zone, short and long months compare fairly, a partly tracked first month no longer drags the forecast down, and loans and entries in an old currency are left out.
  • Insights updates once a day and shows when it last did. Old numbers stay on screen while it updates.

Savings and cycles

  • Savings are now a balance of their own for each currency, with a timeline of what went in and out.
  • Set a starting balance, and choose to use some savings in each cycle.
  • Leftover money can roll into the next cycle. Turn on Carry overspending in Settings, then Budget, if you want overspending to roll over too.
  • Switch currency and your past cycles keep the currency they were recorded in.
  • Back after a break? Welcome back helps you mark the cycles you did not track and set what you have today.
  • If one-time income was really savings, Lumo offers to move it to savings, keep it, or spread it over cycles, with undo for 7 days.

Notifications

  • An optional morning notification with your number for the day.
  • Alerts when you go over today's share or over your cycle budget.
  • Sign-in requests from a new phone show Approve and Decline buttons right on the notification, even when Lumo is closed.

Security and settings

  • A Devices screen shows which phone has access and lets you sign others out.
  • A phone you decline stays declined until it asks again.
  • Choose when the app lock kicks in: immediately, or after 1, 15, 30 or 60 minutes.
  • Haptics only fire when something happens, like a save or a delete, and you can set them to Off, Subtle or Strong.
  • Plan and usage shows your plan, what you have used this month, and when each count resets.
  • When you reach a limit, Lumo says which one and when it resets.

Everything else

  • New look in dark and light mode, with a new logo and app icon.
  • Lumo's own sheets and messages replace the phone's system pop-ups everywhere.
  • Better battery life. Lumo closes its connection in the background and does not check for updates on a timer.
  • Lumo signs you back in on its own after a network drop.
  • Crash reports no longer carry amounts or notes.

0.14.6 Money that went missing now shows up

A user wrote in to say the app was eating his savings. He was right. This update fixes five ways Lumo hid money from you.

  • One-time income counts straight away. A bonus, a refund or last month's savings now adds to your current budget. Before, it was saved but never counted.
  • Pick the real date money arrived. One-time income uses a date picker instead of a day of the month, so "I got paid today" no longer means next month.
  • Proceed anyway works. Confirming an over-budget purchase now records it. Before, the app took the confirmation and dropped the entry.
  • You can go below zero. Overspending shows a negative balance and how far over you are, instead of stopping at zero.
  • Repaid loans return to your budget. When someone pays you back, that money is spendable again.

Also fixed: the Record repayment button no longer hides under the Android navigation bar, repaying the exact balance is no longer rejected, failed actions show an error, dark mode text on the repayment screen is readable, and Lumo targets Android 16.

0.14.5 Get back in after losing your phone

  • Lost your phone and your recovery codes? You can now reset access by email. Lumo sends a code to your account's email, and the new phone gets in 24 hours later. Your old phone can cancel it in that time. You can also ask us for help from the waiting screen.
  • Recovery codes are shown once, when you make them, and stored only as a hash. If you lose them, make a new set from Settings.
  • Insights add up correctly. Money lent from an expense is no longer counted twice, late-night spending lands on the right day in your time zone, and this month is compared with the same days of last month.
  • A redesigned Plan and usage screen.
  • Google sign-in shows a clear message instead of an error code when something goes wrong.

0.14.4 Lumo on Google Play

  • Lumo is on Google Play.
  • An empty dashboard shows three steps to get started.
  • Income forms point out the field that needs fixing.
  • Deleting your account now asks you to type DELETE first.
  • Clearer budget settings.

0.14.0 New setup and Insights charts

  • A redesigned setup that walks you through currency, income and notifications.
  • A floating tab bar.
  • New Insights charts: compare this month with last month, and see your savings trend.
