Is Lumo free?
Yes. Free has limits on a few things, such as receipt scans each month. New accounts may get a short free trial of Pro. Nothing in the app costs money today. See Terms for how plans work.
I hit a limit
Lumo tells you which limit you reached and stops that one action. Nothing you entered is lost. Settings, then Plan and usage, shows what you have used. A monthly limit frees up at the next reset. For things you keep at once, such as open loans, close or remove one to add another. Pro and Ultra are not on sale yet, so if a limit gets in your way, email us.
How do limits reset?
Monthly counts, such as entries and receipt scans, go back to zero at the start of each calendar month in your time zone. Plan and usage shows the date. Limits on things you keep at once, such as open loans, income streams and custom categories, never reset. The count goes down when you remove one.
Why was my account suspended?
We suspend accounts used for fraud, abuse or anything illegal, or to attack Lumo or other people. The app shows the reason we recorded. A deactivated account is paused rather than suspended, often while we look into something. If you think it is a mistake, tap Contact support on that screen, which opens this page with your topic and email filled in, or email us from your sign-in address. We will look again. You can also ask us to delete the account and its data. See Terms.
Does Lumo connect to my bank?
No. You type amounts in yourself, or scan a receipt to fill one in. Lumo never asks for bank logins.
How is my number for today worked out?
Lumo takes what is left in your budget cycle, adds back what you spent today, splits it evenly over the days left including today, then subtracts today's spending. Spend less today and tomorrow's number goes up.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. Lumo is on Android through Google Play. Join the waitlist on the home page. You get a welcome email now and one more when it launches on iPhone.
I got a new phone. How do I sign in?
Sign in with the same Google account on the new phone. It will wait for approval. Then do one of these:
- Tap Approve on the notification your old phone gets.
- Tap Use a recovery code on the new phone and enter one of your codes.
- If you have neither, tap Reset by email on the new phone. We send a code to your account's email address. After you enter it, the new phone gets access 24 hours later.
I lost my phone and my recovery codes
Tap Reset by email on the new phone, as above. If you cannot get into that email account either, tap Get help on the new phone, or write to us with as much detail as you can, and we will try to verify that the account is yours.
Where do I find my recovery codes?
Settings, then Recovery codes. Lumo shows codes once, when you make them, because we only keep a scrambled copy. If you did not save them, make a new set there. That cancels the old ones.
My new phone says it was declined
Someone declined it on your current phone. Tap Ask again on the new phone to send a fresh request.
How do I export my data?
Settings, then Export or import. CSV gives you a spreadsheet of entries. JSON with All time selected is a full backup, including loans, income and savings, that you can import into Lumo again. PDF is a statement to print or send.
Can I change my currency?
Yes, in Settings, then Currency. Your past cycles stay in the currency they were recorded in.
I am not getting notifications
Check that notifications are on for Lumo in your phone's settings, then check Settings, then Notifications in Lumo. Some Android phones stop apps in the background to save battery. If yours does, allow Lumo to run in the background in the phone's battery settings.
What happens to receipt photos?
The photo goes to an AI service that reads it, and Lumo does not keep it. You check the result before saving. The Privacy policy has the details.
Where is my data stored?
On Lumo's servers, run by Convex in the United States. It is encrypted in transit and at rest, but it is not end-to-end encrypted. See Security.
How do I delete my account?
Settings, then Delete data or account. You can also delete your data and keep the account. Without the app, email us from your sign-in address. All the steps are on Delete your account.
